We have chosen Greeley
as our place to "lay-low" over the 4th of July when everyone
that has an RV in North America decides to use it. We have found that
on national holidays if we are not safe and secure in an RV-Park we
will find ourselves without a place to stay. We knew Greeley was having
a Stampede and thought it would provide some entertainment over the
4th but had no idea how much entertainment.
Throughout the weekend and into the 4th of July we would head out to
the Stampede grounds to get our daily fix. The Greeley Stampede is one
big beehive of activity that last for two weeks. They feature a carnival,
food booths, good free entertainment every day of the week Pro Rodeo
or Pro bull riding or nationally known entertainment every day/night.
Entertainment included Gretchen Wilson, Blake Shelton, Alan Jackson,
Miranda Lambert, Trisha Yearwood, Mark Chesnutt, Sugarland, Darryl Worley,
Big & Rich and Cowboy Troy. To say there was more to do than we
were able to do is an understatement but we tried. Every night they
featured a good area band that played from 10PM till midnight. It was
that free entertainment every night from 10 to 12 that about did me
in.

Then on the 4th of July Greeley and the Stampede Committee put on a
monster parade with over 120 entries. The parade started with a heard
of Texas longhorn cattle making their way through town. This heard of
longhorns made their way through town like this was one of their routines.

I find it hard to believe these big animals with huge horns are just
ambling down the street with people lining both sides.

The massive horns on these cattle looked menacing to me, gosh they
were big and beautiful (the horns and the cattle).

Can you believe the clown stabbers on this big boy? And they are just
walking down the street.
