Commanche Peak Wildrness
We are driving on SR 14 west of Fort Collins, Colorado. SR-14 follows the Poudre River through Poudre Canyon to the small mountain town of Walden.

By now we are up high enough that snow is all around us.

We spotted four moose in all. This was the largest of the four.

We drove through freezing rain for about 10-minutes when we were crossing the divide some 20-miles east of Waldon.
Cache la Poudre River begins up here
Here the Cache la Poudre River is little more than a trickle but you can bet the water is cold.
Cache la Poudre River at a lower elevation
As we drop in elevation the river gathers more snow melt and becomes larger and larger.
The Cache la Poudre River and Scenic highway 14 is a good drive out of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Put Scenic SR 14 along the Cache La Poudre River on your list of things to do when visiting Colorado.
