These plants are so unique.

We are staying at the Fort Caspar Campground in Casper. It is a good campground to use as a base when you are visiting this area. I would recommend Fort Caspar Campground over the other private campground in town.

North Platte River at Bessemer Bend near Casper, Wyoming

Get a good look at the North Platt River and think back to the early days when wagon trains heading west had to cross this river. Daunting, terrifying, impossible are thoughts that come to mind. The North Platt is flowing fast and deep as it passes by Casper, Wyoming. This picture was taken at Bessemer Bend where wagon trains on the Oregon Trail had to cross the North Platte River as they made their way to Independence Rock and South Pass.
