Oregon Buttes
Oregon Buttes are located off Wyoming SR-28 a little west of South Pass City
This is the sign that greets you when you turn off Wyoming SR-28 and head south on a dirt road in search of Oregon Buttes.

Wyoming is famous for dirt roads and this one is no exception. Actually, their dirt/gravel roads are not bad, just dusty. Honestly, I can see why they do not pave them since they get so little rain the roads tend to stay in good condition.

This is what travelers on the Oregon Trail saw day in and day out when heading west on the Oregon Trail as they made their way across South Pass in south central, Wyoming.
Odd looking rock on road to Oregon Buttes
This odd looking rock appears to have quartz in it. I imagine that it was quartz bearing rock like this that contained the gold miners were looking for not far away in South Pass City and Atlantic City.

That dirt trail leading off the the right might well have been part of the old Oregon Trail. That is certainly where it could have been.

I think these Buttes are part of the chain of Buttes known as Oregon Buttes.

Again, I am not certain but I think this is part of the Oregon Buttes chain of buttes.
