We are camped in Lyons City Park where they offer free camping with electricity. There is a water source but not at each site. There is also a central dump. What we needed when here was electricity and they had that at each site. We like the campground and will return.
Lyons, Kansas Underground salt mine
We spotted this salt mine in Lyons, Kansas where we are camped in their FREE city park campground. Note the sign showing the current temperature. Since we were doing salt mines today (we did the Underground Salt Mine Tour in Hutchison, Kansas this morning) we decided to drive down and inspect the visible mine structures.
This salt mine was bagging salt and hauling it off with trucks at the Lyons, Kansas Underground salt mine

This is the head of the mine shaft where all the salt is brought to the surface.

This is one of their storage buildings. Note that the slope on this building is at the same angle that dry salt will assume when the conveyor belt dumps it into the building.
Unfortunaltely this mine did not have a tour.
