Joanna Smith at Bama Jam 2009Enterprise - Ozark, Alabama
June 4 through 6, 2009 This travellog covers the three days of BamaJam 2009 a bit north of Enterprise, Alabama. We stayed in Mr. D's RV Park in Ozark, AL. $20 for FHU paved sites & interior roads including cable. While Mr. D's is not a destination park with all kinds of amenities it was perfect for our needs and we will stay there again.
Bama Jam is held in a large pasture north of Enterprise, Alabama. It is a 3-day County Music extravaganza something like a country music Woodstock. It is all outdoors with over 100,000 music fans in attendance. Talk about a hoot. There were 4-music stages with good music on all stages.
Entertainers on the first afternoon to start the event were the likes of Jamie Johnson followed by Luke Bryan. Wow! Those are headline performers and they are just kicking off this event. There are actually 4-stages with performers one after the other on each of the stages. You have to pick and choose which performance you want to watch at what time and move to that stage.
The crowd grows hour by hour
The crowd grows hour by hour until the really BIG performers scheduled for the last shows (Brooks & Dunn and Kid Rock). This looks like if might have been mid-afternoon while Pat Green was performing. It is a good crowd but nothing like what gets crammed in here by 10 PM when Brooks & Dunn perform.
The audience is packing the field in front of the Main Stage and it is still daylight
It is getting later in the afternoon so this is some of the audience during Gary Allen. No matter who is on the stage you can be assured that it is a TOP act.
Joanna Smith at Bama Jam performing on the Budweiser Stage
This is three of our friends performing on one the Budweiser Stage. Joanna Smith is the lead singer. Marc Robichaud is her base guitar player and Shawn Apple is the drummer. Joanna Smith is an up and coming star based in Nashville.
Mark Robichaud
Mark spotted me in the audience and gave me a grin. Mark is a "top drawer" bass player who has traveled with the likes of Luke Bryan and Jo Dee Mecina. We know Mark from Tootsie's on Panama City Beach where he is currently employed in the house band.
Joanna Smith at Bama Jam 2009
Joanna was giving the performance of her life. She should have been on the main stage. Her performance was better than any of the female artist on the big stage.
Wow, it is hard to believe but this has been a wonderful experience. I do not know how we could have packed anything else into these three days.
