Kootenay River
July 6, 2007.
We are staying in Radium Valley Vacation Resort-Resort, in Radium
Hot Springs. $51.00 FHU including cable but NO wifi, paved
interior roads, large sites with covered picnic tables. The negative
with this park is the price and NO wifi. We would much rather stay
in the Canyon RV-Park
but they were full. We will stay in another park when we return to
Radium
Hot Springs just because of the price and no wifi. However,
if you like resorts with pools and such this would be the place for
you.

We made a change of plans yesterday and decided that we would detour
to Calgary and see if we could take in a day or so of the Calgary
Stampede. With that decision made we headed to the northeast today
to Radium
Hot Springs. Our plan is to move to Banff
tomorrow then start trying to find an RV-Park in the Calgary area.
Actually, we have an inside track on an RV-Park in Calgary but we
have an air conditioner that is acting up so we need to get into a
repair shop that can replace a compressor. It would be nice if the
mechanic shop had an electrical connection that we could use while
they replace our air conditioner compressor. If we can find a place
like that we might not need to stay in a campground while in Calgary
for the Stampede.
Our drive today was one of contrasts such as the contrast evident
in this picture. Our entire day was spent threading our way between
and over towering mountains. Notice that these mountains still have
visible snow fields.

While we constantly have views like this it is difficult to get pictures
since we are in the motorhome and places to pull over for photographs
are few and far between.

This is the Kootenay
River looking east with the Canadian
Rockies in the background. Folks I want to tell you that those
are serious mountains. Notice how muddy the river is.

This is the same Kootenay
River this time looking to the northeast. It is still muddy
and the Canadian
Rocky Mountains are still totally awesome.
