These mules were being trained at the corral on the Heart 6 Guest Ranch on Buffalo Valley Road for backcountry trips. They were beautiful animals. The cowboys were doing an outstanding job with the training of the mules and explaining the training process to the guest who were interested.

This mule has been out to pasture for around 7-months and is a bit resistant to being saddled. This cowboy is teaching him who is "boss" as he gets him ready for the upcoming hunting season.

This mule and others will be used to transport hunting parties up to 25-miles into the wilderness south of Yellowstone National Park on two-week trips.

These horses are getting used to their saddles after spending 6 to 8 months in a pasture with nothing to do but get fat. Shortly, they will be earning their keep when they will be used to transport hunting parties deep into the National Forest for two-week excursions.

Elk hunting season is about to open and outfitters are preparing to take hunters deep into the National Forest on two week hunting trips.

Pack animals like this mule are used to transport supplies to the remote hunting camps located up to 25-miles from the trailhead.

These pack animals have been roaming in a pasture since last season and need to get some remedial training before being loaded down for their first trip of the season.

The cowboys providing the remedial training are getting these animals used to blowing tarps and saddles. They do not want one of them getting spooked and running off in the wilderness.
