This is the campsite that was across the road from our campsite. Joyce took this one morning after someone left and before the next camper arrived. We were in Gros Ventre Campground for most of July and there was someone on that side almost every night.

Buffalo or bison wander in and around Gros Ventre Campground. One morning when we stepped outside our neighbor informed us that we had just missed a moose that had breakfast behind our motorhome. Not only did the moose have breakfast 15-feet behind our motorhome it had laid down for a nap. My neighbor was concerned that I was going to come outside to start my little 1KW generator that was just a few feet from where the moose was taking a nap. The neighbor knew that I would have been in danger walking out of my motorhome and heading to my little generator with that moose. Thankfully, the moose moved on before we got up. We had a good time last night at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in Jackson and needed some extra time to recuperate. VBG

There was so much "cottonwood-snow" floating in the air that it appeared to be snowing. Actually, it was so thick at times that it looked like a blizzard. Joyce took this picture beside the road in Gros Ventre Campground near the office. As you can see here the cottonwood-snow as thick.

These signs are located just past the office at Gros Ventre Campground to help new campers find their campsite. With over 300-campsites scattered over several hundred acres these signs are a necessity.

There are over 300 campsites in Gros Ventre Campground. It is interesting to ride or walk around the campground and see what others are camping in. Many are in tents, others are in the back of station wagons or old vans while others are in 45-foot bugle-mobiles. Of course there is a large variety of other options between those extremes. We thought this small tear drop camper was interesting. It could certainly be pulled by a smaller vehicle possibly even a 4-cylinder automobile.
