Pronghorn of FE Warren Air Force Base

We are staying at the Crow Creek Campground on FE Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne. It was $20 a night for full hookups and $10 a night for dry camping. Of the seven nights we were there we dry camped 3 of the days/nights. The place fills up for Cheyenne Frontier Days and Frontier Days is why we were in Cheyenne.

If you can not get into a military campground ...... you best be looking for a 1/2 price PPA campground.

Frontier days consists of a 10-day celebration including parades, rodeos, carnival rides, top notch music on a daily/nightly basis, pancake breakfasts and professional bull riding. It is 10-days packed with action and more things to do than is possible to do.

While Cheyenne Frontier Days is why we are in Cheyenne and staying in the Crow Creek Campground on FE Warren Air Force Base we are featuring the FE Warren Air Force Base pronghorn in this travel log.

Pronghorn were everywhere on FE Warren Air Force Base where we were camping. This one hung out at the campground. While I am not an expert this one looks to me like it may be getting ready to drop a little one. But I certainly do not know about those things.

We saw this one munching in front of the commissary/exchange/PX whatever the Air Force calls it. I think it was his domain since we saw him there on several occasions.

These pronghorn are on the rail road track separating the campground from other parts of FE Warren Air Force Base. Of course the RR track was located about 100 yards from the campground. Out west it is mandatory that a RR track has to be within 100-yards of all campgrounds, even on military bases.

This is late afternoon shadows on a field of golden grass that has gone to seed not far from our campground on the base.

This picture was taken from near the campground looking across a field of grass. Note the group of pronghorn in the center of the picture. There are probably eight or more although they are hard to see in the picture.
